Yoga and Food (what a juxtaposition!)
I don’t like to be around my friends when I’m in a bad mood because I end up being a total a-hole
My lame title definitely deserves a thumb!
As I was sifting through my newsfeed on Facebook on this beautiful Wednesday afternoon, what I had realized was that my friends were very musically talented people.
Of course this didn’t come as a big shock because I do vividly remember my wanderings into the music rooms and the talent shows during high school.
So I thought to myself: why have I never blogged about these wonderful beings yet? And so this post emerged, enjoy!!
Ladies and Gentlemen meet:
Mighty Mouse:
Matt Della Pia a.k.a Might Mouse is a multi-talented musician; not only does he song write, he is also a singer and of course a beatboxer. He first began playing the saxophone at the ripe young age of grade school which led him to fall in love with jazz music. In high school, Matt began to found love in singing, eventually he found that he could manipulate his voice even further in the form of: beatboxing.
Although he still beatboxes regularly, Matt is entering a new phase of his development as an artist, venturing into the singer/songwriter realm. A love for the arts is a love that is true.

Scribblez:
Ricky An a.k.a Scribblez is a Psychology major that works part-time as a barista at Starbucks Coffee Co.; beneath the happy-go-lucky exterior and the midst of beautiful latte designs, a talented, hard-working breakdancer is Ricky An.
He first began breakdancing in highschool, which was first (as he confessed) a way to get girls. Soon he realized that music and dancing was not only a hobby anymore, it became his very passion. Constant practice, performance and competitions with his several crews over the past years has really helped him grow into the artist that he is today.

And if you guys thought I was joking about the latte designs…I wasn’t:

Steve Kim:
Steve Kim is a singer, songwriter and musician that grew up in an equally talented musical family learning piano and saxophone at a very young age. He aspires to be a teacher, perhaps a music teacher would be most suitable? His sarcastic and non-chalant demeanour is loved by many of his peers (myself included, which makes him still one of my oldest and dearest friends), however all this is not apparent once you listen to the first note of the silky voice. Steve covers mainly English songs, but also Korean songs every now and then; which all of the instrumentals and background voices he plays and sings himself.

And there you have it my beloved followers, a little taste of talent!
I wish all these artists the best and I pray that they will someday get the opportunity to showcase the world how talented they are.
Have a beautiful Wednesday everyone!
As I’m laying here with literally a million things about make-up and fashion running through my head after becoming addicted to the mind-numbing-iq-questioning reality show “Jerseylicious”, I have began to realize that moving forward with make-up and styling is only part of the future problem…
As somebody who prides in her style, I must say I haven’t really come across people that understood and respected that makeup, hair and fashion is a very big part of my life.
It’s really a little disheartening when all everyone seems to obsess about is bad-mouthing how girls who wear makeup.
I don’t exactly understand how having eyelashes and blush on constitutes as a person being phony.
Of course we should all love ourselves and we are all honestly so beautiful, but what ever made people think that wearing makeup and fancy clothes meant that we didn’t love ourselves?
It’s BECAUSE I love myself that I feel confident enough to dress up. It’s because I love myself that I want all eyes to be on me.
I hate when people generalize that girls who wear makeup aren’t real because they’re trying to hide behind a mask.
I prefer to call it esthetic enhancement and the amount of makeup someone wears has absolutely no effect on what kind of a heart they have.
Long story short, people just need to lighten up and realize that it’s no big deal to be “fancy” and for a lot of us Glamazons, it’s an artistic outlet and a way to express our creativity.
And to the guys who have their heads so far up their asses about “natural beauty”, be nice! A lot if people take pride on how much work they put into this new form of self-expression! Chances are, that gorgeous girl that you picked up is not totally “natural” anyway and you’ll find that out when you get jiggy in the shower…then what are you doing to do?
You might as well not gel/hairspray/mousse you’re hair for the rest of your life if you’re so adamant on natural beauty…
In the midst of exams, ski trips, retreats, food, parties and more food; I had yet to come up with resolutions for the New Year!
Personally, I don’t truly believe that we need a specific day to “become a new person” and set new goals, but sometimes it’s fun to jump on the bandwagon!
- Victoria Secret model body - HEYO! but isn’t this everyone’s unrealistic goal?
- Continue with yoga
- Attend bible studies, open meetings and nurturing classes
- Learn how to skate, ski, and swim
- Eat healthier!!
- Get involved with volunteer work
- Stay at one job for the rest of the year :$
- G license NEEDS to happen
- Student exchange
- Get started on my hair and makeup portfolio
I think this is fairly short, achievable and realistic (except for the first one!).
Apparently, one of the main reasons why New Year’s resolutions never happen is because we don’t review them enough. So I’m planning and leaving this list EVERYWHERE in my house.
That’s right; everywhere!
It will be on my closet doors, on my phone, on my vanity, on my bathroom mirror…
Let’s get it!!
I think that we can all agree that no matter what point we are at in our lives right now, everyday (or most of them anyway) feels stressful and tiring. Most of us get up to get ready just before work/school; and honestly speaking, starting your morning in a hustle everyday won’t benefit you in the long run.
Here are five simple things you can change in your morning routine that will leave you feeling less tired, less frazzled and generally happier for the rest of your day.
1. Wake up at least ONE hour before you plan to leave
When you give yourself enough time to get ready, eat and change, you won’t be running around like a headless chicken! Give your body (and your brain) enough time to relax, warm up and prepare for the rest of the day.
Lots of people don’t want to lose an hour of sleep just to get ready but you actually fatigue more easily throughout the day from unnecessarily stressing yourself out to get ready and make it on time in the morning.
I love taking my time to get ready, so I always try to wake up 1-2 hours before I need to leave the house. At first it was hard adjusting to one less hour of sleep, but after the first week my internal clock just started to wake me up automatically.
2. Stretch out
Nobody can deny how good it feels to stretch in the morning when lying in bed. Your body was probably in a certain position for a really long time and a quick stretch will wake up those sleeping muscles and limbs.
You don’t necessarily have to do a full-out stretching routine, even a nice couple of stretches in your bed will ease tension and aches in your body.
My morning stretch (from Yoga):
When you get out of the bed, stand with your feet should-width apart
Let your upper body relax and dangle to the floor (almost like you’re trying to touch your toes)
Remain that position and just let everything hang loose for about 10 seconds
Slowly rise up, uncurling your spine, one vertebrate at a time.
Once you’re upright, keep those arms rising until the tips of your fingers are pointing to the ceiling.
Stretch to the heavens and elongate your body as much as you can (without hurting yourself of course).
Go on your tippy-toes and slowly come back down to your heels and repeat at least 5 times.
3. Take a shower
Personally, I never liked showering in the morning but I find that for most people, taking a quick shower in the morning wakes you up instantly. There’s nothing like that blast of cold water that hits you when you turn on the shower head! Guaranteed you will feel refreshed after a quick rinse.
Be quick and efficient, even though it feels absolutely amazing to just stand there and let the water run off your body, it’s probably not the best thing to do if you have to get to work or school.
Like I said, I never did like showering in the morning but after I started getting into the habit, it was like my morning dose of caffeine -instant pick-me-up!
4. Have some breakfast!
When we were young we learned that breakfast was the most important meal of the day, and I know we were all forced by our parents to have some grub before going to school; there is no reason why that should change! Breakfast still remains the most important meal of the day because it boosts your metabolism, prepares your body for the next big meal to come (lunch) and keeps you running for the rest of the day.
Making breakfast can be pretty time consuming, but nobody said to go Chef Ramsay at 8AM! Even having something light like fruit, yogurt, bagel with butter or cream cheese will help start your morning off right.
Every morning I have a glass of water, a yogurt and a bagel/toast with butter and a coffee/tea.
5. Daily Quote/Joke/Passage
In order to get your creative juices flowing for the day, read a daily quote/phrase/joke/passage. This phrase should get you thinking and exercise possibilities and whatever else may come to mind.
There are tons of websites and/or applications that provide daily phrases that are sometimes funny, sometimes emotional and sometimes even confusing. Either way, get that noggin going!
Since I am a Christian, I try to read the bible every morning. Sometimes I read my favourite verses over or I’ll start on a completely new chapter.
There you have it! I guarantee that adding even one of these things to your morning routine will help you be more optimistic about tackling your day head-on! Of course everyone has their own groove, and if you really MUST get that extra hour of sleep, by all means.
